Why the east side is quoted
Kona to Hilo is 2.5–3 hours over the Saddle — roughly 76–95 miles. A flat surcharge would either overcharge Waimea (60–75 minutes) or underprice Volcano (2 hr 20 min+). So east-side work is priced per engagement, in writing, with the crew logistics stated as a readable line.
